Joint operation leads to the arrest of suspected stolen aluminium cables

Nelspruit: A joint operation between members from Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), Gauteng Crime Intelligence, Middelburg Flying Squad, EITT and Fidelity Security Reaction Unit has led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man who was found in possession of 45 suspected stolen aluminium cables to the value of about R10 000 in Witbank.

According to the information, after receiving information about a man who was in possession of aluminium cables at Duvha near Witbank, the team carried out a sting operation in the late hours of yesterday, 23 August 2022.

Upon arrival at a certain house they found a man and conducted a search in the early hours of this morning, 24 August 2022 and found the said cables hence the man was arrested as well as charged for possession of suspected stolen property.

The man is expected to appear at the Emalahleni Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 24 August 2022 facing the said charges.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has commended the collaborative effort displayed by the members which led to the arrest.
