The Civil Protection units in Kairouan were able to extinguish two fires which broke out, respectively, Monday evening and Tuesday, in the "Khachet Dhisi" district in the Haffouz delegation, ravaging approximately 13 hectares of olive trees and forest trees. The first fire, which was brought under control around midnight on Monday, devastated nearly 10 ha of olive and fruit trees, Local Director of Civil Protection in Kairouan, Hamdi Loussif, told TAP. The second fire, which broke out on Tuesday morning, 50 meters from the same location of the first disaster, damaged nearly 3 ha of forest trees near the Oued adjacent to a farm, he said. An investigation was opened in order to reveal the circumstances and causes of these two disasters, the same source said.
