The sowing season for crops in the Kef governorate is coming to an end, with about 82% of the designated areas sown, Abdelkarim Hidri, head of the Local Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (URAP), told TAP.
Abdelkarim Hidri said the agricultural season had been delayed by a lack of rain and the unavailability of fertilisers, noting that farmers in the region had braved these unfavourable conditions to ensure a good harvest.
However, he deplored a serious shortage of ammonium nitrate, a vital substance for grain crops, which has adversely affected farm yields.
