WINDHOEK: The Khomas Regional Council (KRC) on Wednesday handed over the renovated Hakahana and Donkerhoek clinics to the Ministry of Health and Social Services. A fully equipped ambulance valued at N.dollars 1.3 million was also handed over to the ministry, for use by the Windhoek Rural Constituency. The renovations included renovation of a doctor's consulting room and the community hall, the construction of a pharmacy and boundary wall, the installation of air-conditioning, and the procurement of furniture and equipment for the doctor's consulting rooms. Speaking at the event, KRC Chairperson Shaalukeni Moonde said the initiative forms part of the regional council's minor capital projects and is valued at N.dollars 7.5 million. Additionally, the regional council procured electro-cardiograms, sonar machines, adult weight scales, manual defibrillators, screeners, oxygen cylinder holders, examination beds, bed steps, dustbins, and medicine cupboards. Receiving the donations, Health Minister Kalumbi Shangu la said the construction of doctors' consulting rooms and a pharmacy will enable healthcare providers to deliver better and more comprehensive services to the people in Hakahana and Donkerhoek. 'With improved facilities, we are taking a significant step forward in battling the healthcare challenges our communities face. These donations are emblematic of the spirit of decentralisation and the effective collaboration between central and regional governments. They underscore our united vision of a health system that is responsive, accessible, and equipped to meet the needs of our growing population,' Shangula stressed. Source: The Namibia Press Agency
