Leverkusen to aim for Cup revenge against Elversberg

Title holders Bayer Leverkusen will have a score to settle when they face second division Elversberg in the secod round of the German Cup while record winners Bayern Munich were on Sunday drawn to visit Mainz in one of four Bundesliga duels . Elversberg shocked Bayer 4 - 3 in the first round two years ago but this time the match will be played in Leverkusen . The 2022 defeat was part of a bad start into the season for Leverkusen which soon after led to the arrival of Xabi Alonso as coach who led them to an unbeaten Bundesliga and Cup double last season . Bayern have meanwhile won all three previous Cup dates with Mainz and thumped them 8 - 1 in their last Bundesliga meeting in Munich in March . The other Bunndesliga duels are Eintracht Frankfurt v Borussia M ö nchengladbach , Wolfsburg v Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig v St Pauli Hamburg . Last year ' s finalists Kaiserslautern from the second division face a trip to Bundesliga runners - up VfB Stuttgart . The only remaining fourth tier side , Kickers Offen bach , host second division Karlsruhe . The 16 matches are played October 29 and 30 .
