Minister Gwede Mantashe opens and hands over a medical centre and an early childhood development centre in Rustenburg, 26 May

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwede Mantashe (MP), will tomorrow, 26 May 2023, officially open and handover the Freedom Park Clinic and an Early Childhood Development Centre to the Departments of Health and Education in the North West Province.

The construction of the clinic and the childhood development centre were funded by Impala Rustenburg as part of its Social and Labour Plan (SLP). SLPs are a provision in the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA) aimed at enhancing the quality of life in mining and labour sending communities.

The clinic will be received by the MEC of Health in the North West, Mr Madoda Sambatha, whereas the early childhood development centre will be received by the MEC of Education, Ms Viola Motsumi.

The Premier of the North West Province, Mr Bushy Maape is also expected to attend and address the handover ceremony. Impala delegation will be led by its Chief Executive for the Rustenburg operations, Mr Mark Munroe.
