Cape town: Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela, has been sworn in as the Minister of Higher Education and Training in a ceremony held this afternoon.
According to South African Government News Agency, the ceremony took place at Tuynhuys and was attended by President Cyril Ramaphosa and Deputy President Paul Mashatile. Alongside Manamela, former KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Dr. Nomusa Dube-Ncube, was sworn in as the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training.
The appointments of Manamela and Dube-Ncube come after the removal of Dr. Nobuhle Nkabane from the ministerial position on Monday evening. Dr. Dube-Ncube’s appointment was made in line with Section 93 (b) of the Constitution, which permits the President to appoint up to two Deputy Ministers from outside the National Assembly.
