New Northern Cape Provincial Community Policing Board elected

KIMBERLEY – The new Executive Committee of the Northern Cape Provincial Community Police Board has been elected during the Annual General Meeting that was held over two days in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District.

 

The session of electing the executive was held at the Gamagara Municipality hall in Kathu on Friday, 07 and concluded on Saturday, 08 October 2022.

 

MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Ms Nomandla Bloem, the Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner,  Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, the Mayor of Gamagara Municipality, Mr Hantisi including the Director of the Chinese Consular Mr Whang, and  representatives  from South African Defence Force, National Prosecuting Authority and Department of Correctional Service graced the session with their attendance.

 

MEC Ms Nomandla Bloem acknowledged and highlighted the importance of the Community Policing Forums. “The Department has a mandate to forge and strengthen the relationship with crime fighting structures, such as the Community Policing Forums”, says MEC Bloem.

 

The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Kolisa Otola also reiterated and pledged her continuous support to the newly elected Community Policing Board.

 

Mr Whang, the Director from the Chinese Consular in Cape Town praised and applauded the Northern Cape Provincial Community Policing Board for their partnership with the Chinese community in the Northern Cape.

 

The Chinese consulate in Cape Town stands ready to support all its work. The Consulate General will work closely with the Northern Cape authorities to combat crime and create a stable and harmonious social environment for the local Chinese community”, said Mr Whang.

 

The Consulate General of China in Cape Town, donated a generous amount of funds to the Northern Cape Provincial Community Policing Board.

 

POPCRU, SAPU, Women’s Network, Men for Change and IPID delivered messages of support, and committed to work closely with the Board, to ensure that the communities across the province are safe and free from criminal activities.

 

The Policing Board members from five Districts, John Taolo Gaetsewe, Pixley Ka Seme, ZF Mgcawu, Namakwa and Frances Baard converged to elect the Provincial Community Policing Board.
