Tunis: Nine illegal migration attempts were thwarted by coastal guards in the midland and 363 sub-Saharan African crossers were rescued, the Directorate General of the National Guard said. Units of the National Guard district in Sfax arrested two wanted smugglers and seized a steel boat and two rubber boats in addition to seven boat engines and a quantity of boat engine fuel. The Directorate General said in a second press release one individual was apprehended by national guards of Rgueb, Sidi Bouzid. The man was transporting six sub-Saharan Africans to Sfax on board a car with a false plate to help them embark on an illegal sea crossing. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
