The olive oil production is expected to reach 220 thousand tonnes this season, against 217 thousand tonnes last season, according to data released Wednesday by the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI). This production is extracted from 1.05 to 1.1 million tonnes of olive. Tunisia counts 1,625 oil mills, only 931 of which are operational by January 11, with an overall daily capacity of 38 thousand tonnes, the same source added. The oil extraction rate varies from a region to the other, with a national average between 13% and 31%. The extraction rate ranges from 13% to 28% in the north, 18% to 23% in the centre-west, 19% to 23% in the Sahel and 18% to 31% in the south. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
