Tunis: The number of Tunisian para-athletes qualified so far for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games (August 28-September 8) has reached 29, pending the qualification of Fethi Zouinkhi in the para-triathlon, said President of the Tunisian National Paralympic Committee (CNPT) Mohamed Mezoughi. Speaking to TAP on Sunday, Mezoughi explained that with Zouinkhi's expected qualification, Tunisia will take part in the Paralympic Games for the first time in four different disciplines: para-athletics (25), boccia (3), para-rowing (1) and para-triathlon (1), making a total of 30 para-athletes compared with 25 at the last Games in Tokyo 2020+1. "After successfully launching para-table tennis and para-triathlon in Tokyo, we are now reaping the rewards of our bet on boccia, which has joined the ranks and will also be making its Paralympic debut with the trio of African champions, Achref Tayahi, Ayad Ben Ayoub and Maha Ounallah, as well as para-rowing, which will make its first Paralympic debut with the participation of rowe r Maher Rahmani," he added. A training camp has been scheduled on August 11-21 in Evreux, a suburb of Paris, a few days before the start of the Games, to fine-tune the athletes' mental preparation and help them get into the competition as quickly as possible, notably by guaranteeing all the amenities required for their stay in the Paralympic Village and their transport to the various sports venues. The Paralympic Games will be preceded by the Olympic Games, set for July 26-August 11 in Paris, at which Tunisia will be represented by 25 athletes. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
