South african police service (saps) deputy minister:outh African Police Service (SAPS) Deputy Minister, Dr Polly Boshielo, will this week lead the launch of a Campus Community Safety Forum at North West University's (NWU) Mahikeng Campus. The launch is part of ongoing efforts by the SAPS and the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to enhance safety measures at higher education institutions.
According to South African Government News Agency, the initiative aims to establish Campus Community Safety Forums as a collaborative and proactive platform. These forums are designed to bring together the SAPS, campus management, students, staff, and other stakeholders. Their primary objective is to work collectively to prevent and combat crime on and off campus, thereby promoting safer learning and living environments.
The launch event, scheduled for 13 and 14 August 2026, will feature the signing of a Campus Community Safety Forum pledge. Additionally, a career exhibition will be held to introduce students to various career opportunities within the field of law enforcement.
