Pretoria: President Cyril Ramaphosa has been presented with the second interim report from the Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference, and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System, commonly referred to as the Madlanga Commission. The Presidency has confirmed the receipt of this crucial document, marking a significant phase in the ongoing inquiry. According to South African Government News Agency, the commission was established following allegations put forth by KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. These allegations, made on 6 July 2025, pertain to criminality, political interference, and corruption within the criminal justice system. The commission's work aims to shed light on these serious issues and ensure accountability within the system. President Ramaphosa has committed to reviewing the report thoroughly while the commission continues its investigative proceedings. He has expressed his appreciation for the diligent work of the commission and has indicated his expectation that any actions deemed criminal will be referred for prosecution, in accordance with the commission's terms of reference. The ongoing efforts of the Madlanga Commission are seen as vital to restoring integrity and trust in South Africa's criminal justice system.
