President Ramaphosa Swears In Two New Ministers at Union Buildings


Pretoria: President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially sworn into office two newly appointed members of the National Executive at a ceremony held at the Union Buildings.



According to South African Government News Agency, Willem Abraham Stephanus Aucamp was sworn in as the new Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment, following his appointment in accordance with Section 91(3)(b) of the Constitution. The President expressed his decision to appoint Mr. Aucamp as the Minister for the specified portfolio, highlighting the constitutional powers vested in him.



Alexandra Lilian Amelia Abrahams was sworn in as Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition. Her appointment was made under Section 93(1)(a) of the Constitution. President Ramaphosa officially requested the Acting Deputy Judge President to oversee the swearing-in of Ms. Abrahams to her new role.



The ceremony was presided over by Acting Deputy Judge President of the Gauteng High Court, Sulet Potterill, and was attended by members of the judiciary, senior government officials, and media representatives. The event also marked a personal milestone for President Ramaphosa as he celebrated his birthday, taking the opportunity to congratulate both appointees while posing for photographs with their families.
