FREE STATE – On Thursday 03 February 2022 the Bloemfontein Public Order Policing Reaction Team arrested a 29-year-old male who broke into a house in Freedom Square and raped a 23-year-old victim.

Members received the complaint through the Information Officer at the Unit that the suspect was chasing the community around with a chain, hammer and a knife at about 12:00.

The team responded swiftly and found the suspect at the given address. He was tactically approached, neutralised and disarmed. Further information came to the fore that the suspect had broken into the victim’s house and raped her. The 23-year-old victim who had escaped and ran away was traced in the City.

A case of house breaking with intention to commit crime and rape was opened at Kopanong Police Station. The suspect was arrested and he will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on Monday, 07 February 2022.
