Rehoboth has been grappling with persistent power outages for the past two months , yet the town council has provided no explanation and remains silent on the issue . Residents reached out to Nampa to voice their concern about the lack of communication from the council . Anonymously , they reported that on Monday , the town experienced a four - hour power outage . The issue , one resident noted recurred on Wednesday , with the electricity going off without notice and continuing through Thursday . Residents described significant difficulties due to the outages . They were unable to carry out daily tasks such as cooking , assisting children with schoolwork , or caring for sick family members . ' It ' s very frustrating . The majority of us work in Windhoek , and the power outage occurs as soon as we return from work . As a parent , you feel helpless because you can ' t bathe or feed your children , so we have to sleep and go to work angry ,' one resident explained . Another noted that these disruptions have be come a routine problem and demanded that the council provide a clear explanation . ' I understand that problems can happen at any moment , even for the people working at the town council , but at least communicate , and tell us what is causing the power cut so that we can prepare or try and make adjustments until the issue is sorted ,' added the resident . When Nampa sought comment from the town council ' s public relations officer , Desire Pieters on Wednesday night , the response was vague . She said she would ' inform when she is informed ' and added that she would say nothing if there was nothing to share . The situation escalated when residents took their concerns to social media on Thursday . In response , the town council posted on Facebook outlining the areas affected by the power outages . They listed parts of Block A , including town council offices , parts of Blocks D and B as affected . Additionally , Blocks F , G , Kuvukiland , and Bahnhof were reported as being completely off . ' Dear residents , please accept our humble apology for not sharing updates on the power outage on time , due to circumstances as a result of the power outage and related challenges . Please take note that the team is hard at work to restore power to all parts of Rehoboth , hopefully by 13h00 today ,' the post on Thursday read . The council further noted that the technical and electrical team had managed to restore power in Block E , Agri Plots , Abattoir , parts of Block C , and parts of Blocks A and B . Nampa followed up with the same residents , but they reported that electricity was not fully restored until around 15h00 . This meant that many residents went without electricity for over 20 hours Source: The Namibia News Agency
