Report on crimes committed against women being drafted (Ministry of Women)

Minister of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly Amel Moussa, Monday, said her department is working to draft a report on crimes committed against women from 2013 until Sunday, May 14 crime in Bouhajla in the governorate of Kairouan.

The aim is to identify the real causes, the profile of the female victims and perpetrators of the crimes, the Minister pointed out. She told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony held on the International Day of Families that a committee within the ministry and the National Observatory for the Fight against Violence will complete this report late this week and present their results at a later date.

The Minister pointed to the impact of the economic dimension on the spread of tension and violence within society. She spoke of the launch of the “Samida” programme dedicated to women’s economic empowerment, recalling that the ministry has registered 350 requests, submitted by women victims of violence.
