Run-off local elections candidates in Amra constituency (El ksar delegation in Gafsa governorate) Boubaker Akremi and Mohamed Hédi Mohamed presented their programmes on Friday. Both candidtaes, who respectively received 34% and 27.7% of the votes in the first round, agree on the need to develop the agricultural sector, pillar of economic activity in the region, by extending the irrigated areas network through the planting of fruit trees and supporting the granting of subsidies and loans to farmers. Candidate Akremi mainly calls for better support to rural women and for the need to provide them with livelihoods and integrate them into psychological and reproductive health programmes. He further undertook to increase the quota of the subsidised fodder granted to the region's farmers and to create agricultural orientation units. For his part, Mohamed promised to work to set up a primary health centre and a middle school in order to spare the local inhabitants the trouble of going to neighbouring delegations . He also pledged to bring the administrative services closer to the locals and to create a mountain lake so as to provide new resources for agricultural irrigation. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
