Pretoria: Kempton Park: President Cyril Ramaphosa has assured families who are grieving their loved ones that the nation stands with them. This follows the discovery of the bodies of nine women that were found in the Kempton Park area in Ekurhuleni.
According to South African Government News Agency, President Ramaphosa conveyed his message of solidarity and condolences during the Memorial Dialogue against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide held at the Civic Centre in Kempton Park. The President's message was delivered by Acting Police Minister, Professor Firoz Cachalia, emphasizing the collective mourning and support for the families affected by the tragedies.
The President highlighted that the women who lost their lives had aspirations, plans, and connections with people who cared for them. However, not all victims have been identified. This statement was made following the recent discovery of a ninth woman's body in Dawn Park, Boksburg, adding to the eight bodies found in Ekurhuleni over the past two months.
President Ramaphosa expressed that many families are still seeking answers regarding their loved ones. He extended his deepest condolences on behalf of the nation, acknowledging the fear and uncertainty these killings have instilled in communities.
