SAPS Mankweng promotes sport among youth to curb crime in the community

MANKWENG- Words of appreciation by members of the community have been granted to members of the South African Police Service in Mankweng for hosting sports against crime awareness campaign at Mankweng, Diopong sports ground on Friday 16 December 2022.

The initiative that was led by SAPS Mankweng Social Crime Prevention and Managers aimed at encouraging young people around Mankweng to join sports clubs to avoid being caught up in criminal activities. The event was supported by Sergeant Mosima Lekota from the office of Provincial Corporate Communication and members of community in Blue.

Groups of Youth competed against each other in soccer and netball with the winning teams being rewarded with R500, a gold trophy, gold medals and bronze medals.

Members of the community have pleaded with SAPS Management to organize more tournaments to help fight crime and keep the youth busy especially during the Festive Season.

In closing the police acknowledged everyone who participated in the event “We would like to appreciate everyone who participated in this wonderful and successful event, from SAPS Mankweng to you we say thank you and have a blessed festive season,” concluded SAPS representative Sergeant Lekota.
