SAWS Issues Warning for Severe Thunderstorms in Limpopo and Mpumalanga

Johannesburg: The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for the potential occurrence of severe thunderstorms in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga regions on Monday and Tuesday.

According to South African Government News Agency, SAWS has indicated that thundershowers are likely to develop on Monday afternoon and could become severe over extensive areas of Limpopo and Mpumalanga. The expected weather conditions include heavy downpours, strong gusty winds, and the possibility of hail, particularly in densely populated areas.

The anticipated severe weather could lead to flooding in roads, settlements, and low-lying regions, potentially resulting in the closure of some bridges and roads. Motorists have been advised to be cautious of the possibility of fallen trees blocking major roads and the presence of flying debris.

SAWS also noted that partly cloudy conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the country on Monday and Tuesday. There is a possibility of isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, although the rest of the regions are expected to experience fine and varying warm to cool conditions.
