The independent regional authority for elections (IRIE) in Siliana has received a single legal challenge against the preliminary results of the local council elections held on December 24, 2023. The challenge has been referred to the Administrative Court for a decision, Lotfi Rezgui, a member of the Siliana IRIE, told TAP. He added that the IRIE is currently focusing on preparations for the second round of elections, the date of which will be set after the final results of the first round are announced on January 27. In the second round of local elections in the Siliana governorate, 86 candidates are vying for seats on the region's 11 local councils in 43 constituencies, comprising 111 polling centres and 144 polling stations.
