Social Affairs Minister participates in 43rd session of Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs


Social Affairs Minister Malek Ezzahi, Wednesday, participated in the 43rd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, being held on December 20 and 21, in Egypt.

The session is chaired by Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Kabbaj.

Ezzahi expressed Tunisia’s solidarity with the Palestinian people, stressing that «our country is committed to providing Palestinians with all necessary means so as to help them stand firm against the Zionist assault,» reads a statement of the Social Affairs Ministry.

The minister urged participants in the session to provide emergency relief to the wounded in the Gaza Strip.

The Social Affairs Minister recalled that Tunisian healthcare facilities admitted a large number of wounded Palestinians, adding that a field hospital was also set up to provide medical treatment to wounded Palestinians.

He reiterated Tunisia’s unconditional support to Palestinians’ right to self-determination and establishing an independent State with El Quds as its capital.

He also underlined that Tunisia is working to strengthen the social protection system as part of a comprehensive approach to reduce multidimensional poverty and consolidate economic and social empowerment mechanisms.

Ezzahi pointed out that the AMEN social programme aims to organize various social assistance programmes within a unified legal framework.
