Tunis: Speaker of the Algerian People's National Assembly Ibrahim Boughali affirmed Algeria's willingness to support Tunisia in various fields of shared interest, notably economic and security issues. During his meeting on Saturday with Industry, Mines and Energy Minister Fatma Thabet Chiboub, Boughali underlined his country's willingness to scale up cooperation in industry-related sectors, according to an Industry Department press release. The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation between Tunisia and Algeria at all levels, notably in energy, renewable energy and electricity exchange, with a view to securing electricity supplies in border regions. The meeting also offered the opportunity to explore prospects for bilateral cooperation in the mining sector. The industry minister, for her part, reviewed the broad outlines of the national industry and energy strategy, and proposed to organise field visits for the Algerian delegation to learn about Tunisia's experience in promising industrial sectors such as automotive and aeronautical components, technical textiles, and the food and pharmaceutical industries. The Algerian official is on an official visit to Tunisia, July 26-29, leading a delegation of MPs at the invitation of his Tunisian counterpart Brahim Bouderbala. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
