Special Forces for Environmental Security Safeguard Saudi Arabia’s Natural Beauty

Riyadh: The Ministry of Interior’s Special Forces for Environmental Security play a vital role in achieving Saudi Vision 2030’s environmental goals. Established in 2019, the forces enforce regulations, protect resources, and promote sustainability – all to improve the kingdom’s environment and quality of life.

These specialized forces operate across 52 locations nationwide, with a strategic plan encompassing royal reserves, natural wonders like forests and pastures, bird migration routes, and coastal areas. Their efforts directly support the wise leadership’s vision for environmental preservation.

A shining example of Saudi Arabia’s conservation efforts is the King Salman Royal Reserve. Established in 2018, it is the kingdom’s — and the Middle East’s — largest reserve, ranking fourth globally in size. Spanning 130,700 square kilometers, it secured its place as the first Saudi reserve on the World Database on Protected Areas in 2022.

The reserve boasts remarkable natural and geographical diversity. From a
ncient archaeological sites and sculpted landscapes to diverse communities and vibrant ecosystems, it is a treasure trove of natural wonders. The Special Forces for Environmental Security play a key role in safeguarding this precious reserve for future generations.
