WINDHOEK: The Swapo Party Elders' Council (SPEC) hosted a meeting in Windhoek on Saturday, to discuss the endorsement of its constitution. The event also saw the swearing in of Gideon Ishitile as a central committee member. Delegates from all 14 regions are also expected to elect candidates of SPEC to the electoral college. Speaking at the opening, SPEC Secretary Mukwaita Shanyengana called on Namibians to register in numbers and vote in the upcoming national elections in November. 'In our campaign we should be truthful. The Swapo-led government has programmes, plans and development projects such as roads, hospitals, clinics etc., unlike the false promises of these other political parties. We should not leave any stone unturned in our mobilisation efforts to make sure that Swapo returns to its two thirds majority,' Shanyengana told delegates. Source: The Namibia Press Agency
