Teboho Edward Tshabalala Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Ex-Girlfriend’s Murder


Sasolburg: The Free State High Court sentenced Teboho Edward Tshabalala, aged 37, to life imprisonment for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Kgatliso Maleshano. The sentence was handed down on 14 July 2025, marking the conclusion of a case that began with a tragic incident in September 2023.



According to South African Police Service, the incident took place on Friday, 29 September 2023, around 19:00. Sasolburg police received a complaint about a murder and quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of Jeanette Kgatliso Maleshano, aged 32, lying on the ground outside her residence.



The initial investigation indicated that Maleshano had been stabbed multiple times with a knife. The suspect, Tshabalala, had reportedly fled the scene immediately after the attack. Authorities launched a thorough investigation and mobilized neighbouring stations and stakeholders to track down the suspect.



Teboho Edward Tshabalala was apprehended and arrested in the early hours of 30 September 2023, at Vaal Water in the Limpopo Province. The swift action of the police, particularly the efforts of D/Sergeant Lillian Dhlamini from the Sasolburg detectives, was instrumental in ensuring that Tshabalala was brought to justice and removed from society.
