The number of Tunisian hirees overseas under technical cooperation stood at 826 in the period from January 1 to March 31, edging up 6.6% compared to the same period last year. This brings the overall number of guest workers to 23,181, Tunisian Technical Cooperation Agency (French: ATCT) data show. The healthcare sector has the lion’s share with 365 medics and paramedics, i.e. 14% of placements abroad, followed by engineering (137), IT (66) and education (51). European countries top the list of countries hiring Tunisian nationals with 372 guest workers, i.e. 45% of all hirees. Arab countries ranked second (228), followed by the Americas and Asia (178) and Africa (24). Canada took the lead, the ATCT added. Overall, the agency received 23 recruitment offers from foreign companies. Under South-South and triangular cooperation, the ATCT sent 41 experts to Mauritania and Côte d’Ivoire and organised a study visit by a delegation of seven executives from the Congolese Ministry of Regional Integration, Cooperation and Francophonie in a bid to make the most of the Tunisian experience in economic development, regional integration, environment, gender, good governance and social affairs.
