Telkom Reports R44.5 Billion Revenue As Data-Driven Growth Accelerates

Pretoria: Telkom SOC Limited has announced its annual financial results, reporting a substantial revenue of R44.5 billion and a significant increase in mobile subscribers, now totaling 25 million. The announcement was welcomed by Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, highlighting the telecommunications company's data-led growth.

According to South African Government News Agency, the figures were disclosed in Telkom's financial results for the year ending 31 March 2026. Minister Malatsi noted that the results reflect the successful execution of Telkom's strategic initiatives, emphasizing operational efficiency and growth in digital connectivity and data services within South Africa's economy.

Telkom, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and partially owned by the South African government, continues to be a pivotal player in the nation's digital landscape. The company's robust financial standing has enabled it to increase its dividend payout ratio, declaring an ordinary dividend of 270 cents per share, marking a 65.7% rise from the previous year.

As a result, the South African government, which holds a 40.5% stake in Telkom, is set to receive approximately R559 million in dividend income, compared to R540 million from the last financial year. This revenue will support the government's broader developmental goals and public service initiatives.

Telkom's infrastructure, comprising extensive fixed and wireless networks, is integral to South Africa's digital transformation, facilitating broader economic participation and innovation. The company's national fibre backbone and other platforms are critical to enabling access to digital services across the country.

Minister Malatsi expressed optimism about Telkom's future contributions toward a more connected and competitive digital economy in South Africa. He extended his congratulations to the Telkom board, chaired by Geoffrey Qhena, CEO Serame Taukobong, and all employees for their commendable performance.
