Three suspects expected to appear in court for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition

NELSPRUIT – The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has applauded police at Nelspruit after they arrested three (03) suspects aged between 32 and 34, yesterday, 09 June 2022 for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The suspects are expected to appear at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court today, 10 June 2022.

According to the report, police received information about a white Isuzu bakkie with three occupants driving around Nelspruit allegedly carrying firearms and immediately followed up on the information. They (police) spotted the said vehicle along Brown Street in Nelspruit CBD, stopped it and upon searching it found two firearms inside as well as a bag full of cable ties which police suspect were going to be used to commit a robbery. The suspects were then arrested.

Police cannot rule out the possibility of linking the suspects to other cases around Nelspruit and White River.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has applauded the members for their vigilance and alertness.
