Pretoria: The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has welcomed the arrest of eight motorists for allegedly attempting to bribe officers since the start of the festive season. In a recent statement, the RTMC expressed its support for the courageous actions of traffic officers in addressing bribery and corruption. According to South African Government News Agency, the RTMC stated that this represents a new commitment by traffic officers to improve their image and enforce the law impartially. The agency expressed satisfaction with the firm stance taken by the officers, hoping it will contribute to a decrease in road accidents and fatalities. The arrests took place across different provinces, with two motorists apprehended in the Western Cape, three in the Eastern Cape, and three in Gauteng since December 1, 2025.
