Tunis: Tunisia Forward movement on Saturday pointed out that the choice of its candidate for the presidential election on October 6 will be based on a set of criteria including, mainly, commitment to the July 25, 2021 goals, recognition of shortcomings and gaps and the presentation of a clear programme, far from slogans and promises. The movement said in a statement issued at the end of a meeting of its extended political bureau, that the principles emanating from the July 25 process are in line with the choices on which the movement is based, considering that the decisions of July 25 were a bold step that spared the country from a sure disaster. Tunisia Forward also warned against the shortcomings that have marked the process and adversely affected the general climate. "These shortcomings are the result of the lack of a clear programme setting out the objectives and mechanisms capable of putting the principles of July 25 into practice," it underlined. The movement also called for the right of every citiz en to stand as a candidate to be guaranteed, and for the procedures set out in the electoral law to be simplified.
