Tunis: Tunisia received the World Health Organisation (WHO) "EPI 50 Award" in recognition of the outstanding achievements of the Essential Programme on Immunization (EPI), the Health Ministry announces in a press release on Monday. Tunisia was celebrated for "the decision to introduce HPV vaccine," WHO said on its official website. The award was handed over to Tunisia by the WHO during a ceremony organised to mark the 50th anniversary of the Essential Programme on Immunization (EPI), held on July 15-17, 2024 in Cairo (Egypt). The Health Ministry took part in this international meeting with a delegation comprising the President of the National Vaccination Commission, who is in charge of the national vaccination programme at the Primary Health Care Directorate. The national vaccination programme is one of Tunisia's most important achievements, in line with the government's policy of combating communicable diseases, according to the same source.
