Riyadh: The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) announced the operational readiness of the water sector in terms of production, transportation, storage and distribution to cope with the water need and to improve services during this year’s Hajj season 1445 AH.
The SWA reiterated that the production capacity of desalinated water has increased to more than 3.6 million cubic meters of water per day this year.
The Water Transmission and Technologies Company (WTTCO) has completed its operational readiness to supply Makkah with a capacity of up to 1.3 million cubic meters of water per day.
The National Water Company (NWC) has also completed its arrangements to carry out its operational plan by providing the quantities of water necessary for distribution and pumping to Makkah and the holy sites during the Hajj season, with average daily pumping quantities exceeding 750,000 cubic meters per day, and pumping quantities reaching more than one million cubic meters per day on the Day of Arafah and the days of Eid Al-Adha.
