A workshop on the Mediterranean Network for Training Orientation to Regular migration was held Tuesday by the City Hall of Tunis. This is part of the implementation of the European Union-funded (MENTOR) II project was held MENTOR II - a circular mobility scheme that offers professional traineeship opportunities to young Tunisians in Northern Italy - in cooperation with the Municipality of Milan. The first phase of the project, which involved Tunisia, Morocco and Italy, was kicked off in July 2022 in a bid to upgrade vocational training mechanisms for youth, said SG of the Tunis municipality Slimane Koli as the workshop got underway. The workshop is designed to set up a consultation task force as part of a participatory approach to train 23 young people from Tunis and Sfax who had previously participated in a training session (marketing, IT, mechanical industries) in Milan. The workshop was organised to urge all stakeholders - the Municipality of Tunis, the governorate of Tunis, representatives of the Euro pean bloc and the city of Milan, the Office of Tunisians Abroad and the Ministry of Social Affairs) to debate solutions to cut illegal migration and assist youth in connection to regular migration after offering them training. The project, the official said, seeks to support youth and reduce illegal migration.
