Tunis: As part of the project "Empowering the education system and school communities through the promotion of human rights, global citizenship education and media and information literacy," UNESCO and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (Directorate General of Student Affairs), with financial support from the Netherlands, announce the launch of the Young Talents cultural competition: "Living together through art and culture," to promote global citizenship education (GCED). The cultural competition aims to encourage various forms of artistic and cultural expression that disseminate the values of justice, equity, living together, peace and global solidarity, and to launch a dynamic in universities on the themes of education for global citizenship and media and information literacy, according to a joint press release. The goal is also to empower students as global citizens who are aware of the various social, ecological, political and economic issues at stake, and of the need to act to ac hieve the Sustainable Development Goals, while building critical thinking skills, resilience, open-mindedness, cooperation, active solidarity and civic engagement. The competition is open to students enrolled in a public university during the 2023-2024 academic year. Participation must be collective (a group of 2 to 5 students maximum). The choice of language is free: Arabic, French or English. The competition covers the three categories of cultural expression, namely physical expression: theatre, choreography lasting between 5 and 20 minutes maximum, musical or poetic works: slam, rap, choir, instrumental, etc.... lasting between 2 and 3 minutes maximum and graphic works: sculpture, painting, drawing, etc. The deadline for entries to [email protected] is April 30. The 3 best works in each category will receive gift prizes worth TND 5,000 for 1st prize, TND 3,000 for 2nd prize and TND 2,000 for 3rd prize. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
