African Beach Games: opening ceremony at Hammamet outdoor theatre

Venue development in the Olympic Village of Yassmine Hammamet – the host city of the African Beach Games 2023- continue in a meticulous and intensive way, said member of the Organisation Committee Ridha Manai.

The opening ceremony of this second edition is due next June 23 at the 1, 200-seat Open Air Theatre in Hammamet.

The beach marathon initially due on June 28, TAP also learnt, was brought forward to June 27 for organisational reasons.

Hammamet will be the meeting place for 300 African and international sports personalities, mainly Robin Mitchell, the President of the Association of National Olympic Committees, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa Mustapha Berraf as well as representatives of the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Solidarity progamme and the French and Chinese Olympic committees.

Eleven African ministers will be part of the official delegations of participating countries.

No less than 54 presidents and as many Secretaries-General of African national Olympic committees will attend the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA)

set for June 22.

Nearly 200 journalists, audiovisual technicians and photographers from different media will cover the event in Hammamet.

The national television, official Broadcaster of the African Beach Games, has the biggest number of accredited journalists and technicians as it is the case for TAP, the media partner of the games.

The Organising Committee called on about 300 volunteers in a bid to secure the smooth conduct of games, a source at the organising committee said.

The second edition of the games will see the participation of nearly 1,100 athletes from 53 African countries.
