Air passenger traffic in Tunisian airports edged up 9.6% in H1 of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching 4,220,349 passenger movements, statistics released Thursday by the Tunisian Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (OACA). This upward trend was observed in most Tunisian airports. Tunis Carthage International Airport reported a 9.1% rise (3,300, 869 movements), while Djerba-Zarzis International Airport posted a 10.2% growth rate (819, 399 passenger movements). The rate edeged up 11.9 % for Sfax-Thyna International Airport (79, 403 passenger movements) and 17.4% for Tabarka-Ain Draham International Airport (1,558 movements), jumping 135.6% for Tozeur-Nefta International Airport (18, 027 movements). A 13.1% growth was reported by airports operated by the OACA and TAV Tunisie compared to the same period in 2023 (5, 235, 515 passengers). Commercial traffic grew 6.2% in H1 of 2024, OACA figures show, in comparison with the same period in 2023 with 35,515 aircraft movements. The number of airc raft using airports trended upwards in Tunis Carthage International Airoport by 6.7% to 27, 251, while rising 6.8% in Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (6,274 movements) and climbing 60.9% in Tozeur-Nefta International Airport (259 movements). Meanwhile, the aircraft movement in Sfax-Thyna International Airport slipped 2.1%. Tabarka- Ain Drahem International Airport followed suit, falling 12.9%. Over-flying traffic (aircraft transiting the Tunisian airspace) reported a atteint 30,121 overflight movements in H1 of 2024, up 18.1% on the same period last year.
