Mmabatho: Mmabatho police were called to a scene at Motlhabeng village, late Thursday evening, 23 January 2025. On arrival, a family member directed the police to the house where an injured 46-year-old male was found, lying on the floor with a stab wound. Furthermore, the police found the body of a 39-year-old Matshidiso Virginia Nqawa inside the bedroom, laying in a pool of blood with numerous stab wounds. She was declared dead by Emergency and Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) on the scene. According to South African Police Service, after initial investigations, it is alleged that a fight ensued between the 46-year-old boyfriend and his girlfriend, Matshidiso. The boyfriend was ultimately arrested and placed under guard at a local hospital, but was later discharged and detained at the police station. He is expected to appear in the Molopo Magistrates' Court on Monday, 27 January 2025 on a charge of murder. The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng condemned the incident and sai d that the vulnerable, such as women and children should at all times be protected, especially by their loved ones. He further encouraged members of the community to solve conflict in a peaceful manner, rather than resorting to violence.
