In a phone call with Ismail Omar Mukhtar (Orange), the director of Somali National News Agency, the governor stated that the victims were businesspeople targeted by the terrorists. Among those injured were children. The bus was traveling from Marka to Qoryooley when it was hit by the explosion. The wounded were taken to Shalaanbot for treatment.
