WINDHOEK: The Dordabis community is facing a crime crisis , with the Namibian Police Force ( Nam Pol ) arresting five to six individuals weekly due to drug smuggling and theft of water pumps , amongst other crimes . Station commander Elvis Kavari told Nampa the most prevalent crimes at the settlement , situated 87 kilometres from Windhoek , include drug smuggling , illegal hunting , Gender Based Violence ( GBV ) and theft of water pipes . ' The majority of these cases are drug - related cases , where individuals smuggle drugs . We are trying our best to set up roadblocks so that drugs do not enter Dordabis but unfortunately somewhere , somehow , drugs manage to enter ,' he said . Kavari further said the majority of the residents do not have access to clean water , which forces them to access water from nearby farms illegally . He further alleged that members of the community do not cooperate with the police . ' Members of the community do not cooperate with the police , which prevents us from doing our work , ' said Kavari . Christa Hansen , a social worker attached to the Dordabis community , said counselling sessions with community members have revealed that poverty and unemployment are the main drivers of drug use .
