Eastern Cape Suspect Arrested for CIT

Pretoria: The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation's Tactical Operational Management Section (DPCI-TOMS) with the assistance of the Modus Operandi Centre (MDOC) and E2 successfully arrested a wanted suspect linked to charges of attempted murder in the Eastern Cape following a tracing and tracking operation. DPCI-TOMS received a request to trace and apprehend a suspect after a warrant of arrest was authorised and issued as per Lwandle case. The members utilised specialised tracing and tracking methods as well as techniques, which led investigators to the Eastern Cape areas of Motherwell and KwaZakhele. According to South African Police Service, information gathered during the preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was employed as a transport driver responsible for transporting workers between a company and their residences. An operational plan was subsequently developed after investigators monitored and analysed the suspect's movements and work schedule. The takedown operation was success fully executed on Thursday, 14 May 2026, in the Kariega Industrial Area. The suspect was arrested shortly after dropping off passengers at their place of employment. The suspect was subsequently detained in transit and escorted to South African Police Service in George where the Investigating Officer will assume custody and transport him to Western Cape for further legal proceedings. The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation remains committed to tracing and apprehending wanted suspects to ensure that those accused of serious crimes are brought before the Strand Magistrate court.
