Tunis: The Board of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) validated approved the final results of the elections for members of the National Council of Regions and Districts (NCRD), as well as the composition of this second parliamentary chamber. No changes have been made to the composition announced on March 28 when the provisional results of these elections were announced. The authority's board unanimously adopted the decision on the results of the NCRD members' elections at the end of a meeting on Wednesday, Farouk Bouasker, president of the ISIE, told reporters. Bouasker said that a copy of the text of this decision would be sent on Wednesday for publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Tunisia. The process of establishing the second chamber of parliament is now officially complete, he said. In the same context, Farouk Bouasker stated that the NCRD will be invited to hold its inaugural session within two weeks, in application of Article 37 of Decree No. 2023-10 on the organ isation of local elections and the composition of regional and district councils. The President of the ISIE also announced that once the second chamber of parliament has been set up, the Board of the Authority will examine the timetable for the forthcoming presidential elections and the regulatory decision on the conditions for standing as a candidate in these elections.
