Local elections: final results of first round to be announced on January 20 (ISIE)

Final results of the first round of local elections will be announced on January 20, said the Independent High Authority for Elections (French: ISIE). A press conference will be held to this end on this date at headquarters of the Tunis 1 local election commission, the authority said on Thursday. Preliminary results of the first round of December 24 local elections were announced last December 27. The election commission said final results will be released no later than January 27 after the expiry of the deadline for challenges. The deadline for filing challenges for the first round of elections expires Thursday. Campaining for the second round starts one day after the announcement of the final results of the first round.
