Local elections – Medenine: electoral campaign heats up in delegations of Djerba


The electoral campaign on the island of Djerba has heated up in all three delegations. Candidates continue to put up posters and make direct contact with citizens to present their programmes and encourage them to vote.

In the Imada of Hachen, two candidates are vying for a seat on the Houmt Souk local council, which has 11 elected members and only one tie.

Candidate Anis Ben Hriz has promised to build an inclusive sports complex at El Hachen school, activate pending projects in the Imada, restructure distribution channels in Medenine governorate and identify market needs.

He also promised to create an investment environment, set up clubs for the elderly and draw up a strategy for development projects.

For his part, candidate from the Imada of Midoun Jamel Bouslema is competing with four other candidates for a seat on the 7-member Midoun local council.

His programme includes helping the poor, improving administrative services, setting up a post office and promoting transport services in the Khazroun regi
on.

In the Ajim delegation, candidate Aymen Taniche, from the Imada of El KraS, has promised to do his utmost to spread the culture of work, establish cultural institutions, improve infrastructure and speed up the creation of an urban development model.

Candidate Amara Ghrimil, from Imada Merzen (Ajim delegation), plans to open a children’s club, expand the primary health care centre, pave agricultural roads and support new farmers.
