Mahdia: Mahdia governorate reported, during the period from January 01 to June 2024, an increase in various tourism indicators compared to the same period last year, with a 4.2 % rise in the number of arrivals (72,467 tourists) The occupancy rate was up by 33.5 %, while the average length of stay was about 5.4 days, a 15.7 % rise compared with the first six months of 2023, and the number of nights spent in June was estimated at 197,360 compared with 173,805 in the same month in 2023, up of about 13.6 %, according to the statistics of the Regional Tourism Delegation. The number of guests in the region's hotels in June stood at 32,19,000 compared to 30,305 in the same month last year (up 5.7 %). The share of nights spent by the most important nationalities grew by 20.7 % for Germans and 12 % for Czechs, followed by Tunisians with 11.5 %, British with 10.2 %, French with 7.5 % and Polish with 7 %. The occupancy rate in the last third of June 2024 was estimated at 83.6 %, and is expected to reach 100 % during July and August, with a possible increase in the number of arrivals from the Czech Republic and Poland by 20 %.
