Odendaalsrus: Police have arrested a 43-year-old male suspect after he was found in possession of suspected stolen copper cables when the vehicle he was travelling in was intercepted during a roadblock operation on the R30 road. According to South African Police Service, it is alleged that on Friday, 9 May 2025, police members were conducting a roadblock operation on the R30 road near Odendaalsrus. During the operation, members allegedly stopped a Silver Volkswagen Polo. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered suspected stolen copper cables. Police confiscated 15,7 grams of copper cables with an estimated value of R2500-00. The 43-year-old male suspect was subsequently arrested for possession of copper cables. He will appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate's Court soon.
