Nine suspects to appear in court for possession of suspected stolen properties

POLOKWANE – Nine suspects are expected to appear before the Sekhukhune Magistrate court on Monday 31 October 2022 facing charges of possession of suspected stolen copper cables following their apprehension in Apel policing area on Saturday 29 October 2022 at about 08:00.

Police were conducting patrol duties along the D4190 public road at Ga-Nkwana village when they spotted a suspicious white Ford Ranger bakkie heading towards Burgersfort. The motor vehicle with nine occupants was stopped and searched. During the search, police discovered copper cables that were not accounted for.

The suspects aged between 19 and 44 residing at Atok village were immediately nabbed for the possession of copper cables believed to have been stolen at a closed mine in Grobblersdal policing precinct.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the stolen copper cables were intended to be sold in Burgersfort policing area.

Police investigations are continuing.
