Ouagadougou: The celebration of the Feast of the Assumption 2024 took place this Thursday, August 15, 2024 in the grounds of the Christ Roi de l'Univers cathedral parish of Ouahigouya. Under the presidency of Mgr. Justin Kientéga, bishop of the diocese of Ouahigouya, the Catholic faithful asked for the intercession of the Virgin Mary for a return of peace to Burkina Faso. Due to security constraints, the celebration of the solemnity of the Assumption 2024 was unable to bring together the Catholic faithful from the two parishes of Ouahigouya at the Marian sanctuary of Saye, located a stone's throw from the city of Naaba Kango. It is therefore within the confines of the Christ the King of the Universe cathedral parish of Ouahigouya that the communities of this parish gave thanks to the Lord by praying on the occasion of this solemnity of the Assumption. During the celebration, Mgr Justin Kientéga, spiritual guide of the diocese of Ouahigouya, recalled the history and establishment of the commemoration of the glorious elevation of the Virgin Mary. For the bishop, this feast of the Assumption is a sign of hope for a better future for the world. He urged the Catholic faithful to take the path of humility, like the Virgin Mary. He also gave advice, especially to children, recommending that they demonstrate their love for their mothers by saying the rosary every day. In union of prayer, the faithful, for three hours, praised the Lord and implored the Blessed Virgin Mary for the return of peace throughout the diocese and for the return of internally displaced people to their communities of origin. At the end of the celebration, Mgr Justin Kientéga asked the Virgin Mary to flood her children with the graces of peace, joy and faith. Source : Burkina Information Agency
