Ouagadougou: The coordination of the skills development and technological adoption support project (ECOTEC) organized in Dori, on Wednesday August 14, 2024, an information and awareness session on its sub-component 'Strengthening the capacities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and technological adoption', in order to present to economic operators in the Sahel region the support and business opportunities available to them. According to the representative of the project coordinator, Mr. Ascadra Barry, ECOTEC is implemented by the Burkinabe government with the support of the World Bank, with the aim of supporting job creation and economic transformation by increasing the access of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to finance, markets, technologies, and a competent and diverse workforce. Mr. Barry added that the project is planned for a period of 6 years and is structured around 4 components: the development of MSMEs, the improvement of their access to financing and investments, the devel opment of a workforce productive and entrepreneurial work, and emergency response. With a total cost of 9.5 billion FCFA, it will reach 1,550 entrepreneurs, concluded Mr. Barry. On behalf of economic operators, the representative of the Sahel regional consular delegation, Amadou Dicko, warmly thanked the Burkinabè government and the World Bank for the implementation of this project, which will undoubtedly contribute to the revival of economic and financial. Mr. Dicko urged business promoters to seize the opportunity to become better informed about ECOTEC. The high commissioner of the province, Mr. Wulfran Émilie Bamas, reassured the actors and beneficiaries of this project of the availability and commitment of regional, provincial and municipal authorities in the successful implementation of ECOTEC.
